The BackStop 12-A101 is a 2-gallon thermal expansion tank with 3/4" NPT.  The tank has a carbon steel shell, stainless steel system connection, and a heavy-duty butyl rubber diaphragm with almond epoxy coating.

The thermal expansion tank has a fixed diaphragm (precharge) with an FDA-grade polypropylene liner that prevents tank corrosion and waterlogging problems.  This component also helps absorb excess water pressure.

The 12-A101 is compatible with residential or commercial potable water or hydronic (forced hot water) systems.  It is installed indoors in a vertical, horizontal, or diagonal position on the cold water line.

According to the manufacturer's Installation Warning & Operating Instructions, the " BackStop Thermal Expansion Tank is a safety device that prevents dripping valves and extends the overall life of the heating system".  We suggest having a licensed and qualified professional review your application and determine if this unit can be used as required.  Unfortunately, we cannot provide guidance on applications in the field as each application is unique and should be in accordance with your local Authority Having Jurisdiction.  We highly suggest having a local professional review your application and conduct the installation.

Wondering how to know the Age or Mfg Date of Expansion Tank in beach condo. Does the "MFG Code AK" mean anything?
